We've been playing this game 2 player a lot. After we got to drafting, we became quickly dissatisfied with handing 9 cards back and forth. So, we have been doing the following and enjoying it.

Deal 4 hands with the following quantities:
Hand 1: 6
Hand 2: 7
Hand 3: 6
Hand 4: 7

Player 1 takes hand 1, player 2 takes hand 3.

Draft 2 cards, then put the hand down and take the next hand clockwise. Draft 2 cards. Then put it down and go clockwise again. Draft 2 cards. Then take the final hand and draft 3 cards.

2 cards from each hand will not be selected. Without looking, shuffle them back in the deck.

Continue with game as normal.

We do something similar. We deal out 4 hands of nine cards and trade them around as if there were four players. Each time we draft a card, we discard a random card from each of the "ghost" hands.

I think next game we'll experiment with drafting 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2.

Helps build a long term strategy better.
