I've become a huge fan of this game, in particular the art-style, the theme and the map-based gameplay.

Would anyone have any recommendations of other games I could check out that they've enjoyed as fans of AFAOS ?

Apologies if a bit of a vague question.

Thank you !

Both Blue vs. Gray and Battle Cry of Freedom use cards to cover the ACW, the former being much better than the latter.

The Lightning Series are very short mapless deck-based war games which cover a range of topics.

The pen is mightier than a really small, blunt, and foam covered sword.

If you post this in the Recommendations forum you will get flooded with answers. That said, what about 1812: The Invasion of Canada, its also a card driven primarily 2 player war game.

The highest ranked card-driven map-based 2-player wargames is Twilight Struggle

However, it is NOT deck building, and is somewhat more complex. (although it has a MINOR aspect of that as you can choose to use cards for EVENTS or for POINTS which determines whether the cards stick around.)

But the game play is equally satisfying.
