As the end of the year draws nigh, some us will turn our attentions to
obsessively documenting our game playing for some of all of the last 12
months. I did this for the first two quarters of the year (and will
shortly for the latter half of the year), generating nicely formatted (I
think) html reports that I post on my blog, like so:
Because I am a computer geek as well as a boardgame geek (not to mention
a math geek, roleplaying geek, Simpsons geek, beer geek, and Dr. Who
geek), I wrote a little python script to help automate this process.
The script sucks down games played data from BGG and generates an XML
file that you can edit to insert comments on the games. You then run
the script again on the XML file to generate the html.
If you understood any of that, you may want to take a look at it:
Python can be found at:
I know this is of limited interest (and I may be overestimating at
that), but I thought I'd put it out there. If anybody does end up using
it, I'd appreciate your letting me know.
PS - Some may remember that I was working on a GUI game logging app a
few months ago. I haven't abandoned that project, but it has been back
burnered, probably until school finishes in May.
