I was reading the Boss Monster vs. Pixel Lincoln post and it made me think. With the next major Boss Monster game being based on Science Fiction games, what game box art would Brotherwise Games parody? More first generation NES box art or something different?

Maybe Contra?

Gradius?

Journey to Silius?

Maybe bad Mega Man art?

or maybe SNES box art?

or mabye Sega box art?

Anyways, what does anyone else think? Have any favorite box arts from your childhood that would be great as a parody?

With the possible exception of Metal Gear, none of those games are Science Fiction themed...

Metroid is definitely a nice Box art.

I personally would love to see either:

or more known:

Starfox would also be my choice

Both games that bring back good memories.

My vote is going to have to go with Mega Man just because it is sooo horrendous - and known for being that way!

There should definitely be some homage to Star Fox in the set at the least. Like have Fox, Falco, Peppy, and Slippy as 1 of each hero type, Andross as a Boss, or Work the phrase "Barrel Roll!" in there some how. =P

Looking at the suggestions I think now that the next Boss Monsters should parody the classic silver box art of Metroid and have a Kickstarter Mega Man bad box art parody for a slip cover!

Mega man or metroid! both are very iconic

Zelda game is very iconic but not enough to make a good parody.

As far as icons go: Zelda > Mega Man > Metroid

However I wouldn't put Zelda in the running for best Science Fiction box art cover.

Absolutely love this idea! I wouldn't want the Mega Man cover to be the commercial release cover of the game because people that would not get the joke may not buy the game, but a Metroid cover with a Mega Man Kickstarter exclusive sleeve is pure genius.

They already parodied the Zelda cover as part of a Kickstarter perk.

And the falling character model on the normal cover is a parody of Mega Mans jump graphic:

Since some people keep suggesting Non-Science Fiction Box Art I figured I would suggest some Non-Box Art Science Fiction. . .

I'm liking the Metroid box, it follows the same pixel style and doesn't have ships (the game will likely not involve ships so the one with ships make no sense).

Also, the comparison between Marius and Mega Man, I never noticed that! Definitely going to add it as a reference on the wiki!

Since they've done an NES game and Gameboy game box, I think SNES would be fitting for a (hopefully large) expansion. Make it 6+ players!!
