I hope you're planning to use them as bits in a different game, since they serve no purpose in Hunters and Gatherers.

Rarely does the counting of animals actually get difficult enough to need the disks. Count the deer first, then subtract tigers; if the total goes below zero, treat as zero; then add mammoths and the cow things (I can't remember how to spell); then double the count for the total points. If you are playing with children or rules-lawyers (yay for the first, boo for the second) then the disks can be used to cover a deer as you cover a tiger, but it just isn't necessary to make an accurate count.
