I understand carrier shields absorb damage. However, i dont understand how losing a shield point differs from actually taking a hit. What would be the difference in having 6 shields plus 12 hits allowed as opposed to having an 18 point hit track? Or am I missing something? I looked in the rules to see if carrier shields can be restored in any way but could not find anything. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks

Edit: I see that thruster bomb and torpedo damage is limited against carrier shields

Hi, difference is that you may not modify attacks on shields so that torpedoes or thruster bombs can only do 1 damage.
When carrier shields are down it's time to get those extra damage cards devil

Nicolas pretty much nailed it - although I'd like to add that some Crewmates also go into action once the Carrier's Shields go down.

Shields will have other game effects later as well!
