Metal cap KS is up for those of you that are interested.
However only for hegemonic kick starter supporters.

I had a question regarding these tokens.
How big are the metal cap tokens?
Size and thickness would be appreciated.

According to the KS page: 35mm x 19mm and 2mm thick.

No it's for everyone. I'm just giving backers and people who contacted me about missing out on Hegemonic a chance to back the limited spaces before publicly announcing this.

Anyone interested in Hegemonic and/or its coins will be interested in this new unannounced Kickstarter campaign that just opened up. This way you can grab any of the limited spots on the rewards before anyone else.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/miniongames/futuristic-m...

There is a LATE BIRD option that allows some people who missed this campaign to get in on Hegemonic with the same stretch goals minus the free set of coins.

These are the same coins everyone in the Hegemonic campaign is getting, just that I've now added in the tooling costs that I forgot about during the last hour of the Hegemonic campaign when I stupidly said some people could get more for $5 a set.

If we reach the 10 cap goal, I'll add some options for supporters of Hegemonic to get just some extra coins with a heavy selection of the 10 caps since you're all getting some 1s and 5s already.

Again, it's recommended if you wish to play 5-6 players that you get an extra set of CAPs. The game comes with about 100 caps in cardboard regardless.

I'm not sure how many coins to order. Any suggestions? Is the privateer amount practical?

I took the 75 coins. In addition to the 50 I'll get from the Hegemonic Kickstarter I think that'll be more than enough.

I'd love to get a set of these for Mecanisburgo. But need the 10 value coins. Looks like it will make it to the 10 coin stretch goal fortunately. Would love to use these with Merchant of Venus but need 50 & 100 to be useful.

Great! I'd think 50's would be the most flexible. A lot of games need 100's so that would get you there the closest. With Merchant of Venus you are usually going for 2000-3000 credits so you'd need quite a stack to make that amount.

But with Hegemonics' retention level for CAPs I don't think that you'd ever have 50 CAPs at all, so why have such a coin then?

For other games. Though I guess since the caps are primarily done for this game then it makes sense to make the numbers most useful for it. Though if they are popular enough and people like me are planning to pick them up for other games then having more denominations would make sense.

There has been a lot of great ideas in comments and so I want to allow you people to guide our stretch goals to achieve these ideas.

So, please take this short survey.

Potential backer feedback: I thought long and hard about backing Hegemonic, and I've been subscribed to and following news of the game for a long time, before the publishing announcement for sure. But I decided to wait and see on the game purchase.

The CAPs are super cool and I'd use them for this game if I got it, or for any other 4x or sci-fi game that needed a currency upgrade. But it irks me that the reward levels are structured to "punish" non-Hegemonic backers and give a discount to backers (50 CAPs are $12 for backers, $17 for non-backers; 100 CAPs are $25 for earlier backers, $30 for new customers). I'd probably back this campaign except for that fact - It feels like am being chided for my earlier "mistake" and it'll cost me extra money.

You and Minion are of course free to structure your Kickstarter rewards any way you like. I just thought I'd let you know that this way is prone to losing potential backers instead of attracting them. Thanks.

I believe that the difference in price between backers of Hegemonic and non-Hegemonic backers is due to shipping costs. Backers of Hegemonic already paid for shipping through that campaign while new backers haven't yet. It's not a punishment.

That is correct. The $5 extra is to cover the shipping cost as the coins can be tossed into the flat rate box of the Hegemonic backers. I'll go make that clearer.

P.S. If you answered the survey thinking these coins would only be single sided, please update your answers as they were always double sided, the question pertains to new art on one side.

Thanks - I didn't realize that they would ship at the same time, and the extra charge is basically just shipping for the coins alone. I appreciate the clarification - no harm, no foul!

Thanks for the survey! I also like that you are considering a version with "CAP" removed which will make them more useful for other games.

I donno there are over 50 people that said they would not buy these if CAP was removed and only 5 that said they'd only buy it if we removed CAP.

Right now looks like the stretch goals will be: 10cap, 25cap, 2 sided, larger coins, 50 cap

We'll see though as less then half the backers have responded yet.

I think it's mainly because most of the backers are getting it for Hegemonics and aren't thinking about getting them for any other games. I'm thinking along that same line too, but I would still get them without CAPS on them.

Interesting that no one asked for the case, I would love to have the case. That's the most likely incentive for me to get even more coins, especially for other games if I had an external case to carry it in (like poker chips? =D).

I think a case is much more likely an ala-carte add on. It would be too expensive as a free stretch goal. What specific kind of case are you looking for? Know any vendors online for them? If I could get them made in low quantity i'll add them ala-carte closer to the end of the campaign.

I am hoping we can get some denominations past 10. I plan on using these for all my other games. I really like hard currency instead of paper money for games. I would like at least a 50 and 100. Maybe either a 20 or 25, not sure which.

I can live with the CAP still being on, but would prefer it without any value besides a number. A carring case would be a nice bonus, but another thing I can live without. Though a nice carrying case with Hegomonic on it would be a neat advert.

I posted an update with the new stretch goals and reward levels. More coin units are definatly coming.

Everyone should switch their reward level right now or you won't get any 10 unit coins.

So, I've pledged Hegemonic Trader and if I'd like to get some 10s I'd have to change my pledge level to Gold Trader (the real one) and not add any $ for shipping (because I already paid that in the Hegemonic Kickstarter?
