I posted in a thread about how Heroscape is keepig my shelf company and someone GMed me to ask if I'd be interested in selling. After thinking about it, I figure I probably should, but I don't have a good idea what it's worth.

I don't want to part it out and I'm not really worried about getting top dollar. Since the boxes are long gone and a few lances are bent, I wouldn't expect to anyway. I do have the manuals for the master sets and terrain sets.

If your selling the whole lot together your going to get quite a bit less.

I have seen large lots like this sell on ebay for around $200.00. But you have quite a few rares like Tundra, Jungle, Wave 3, Wave 4, Wave 6.

It might benefit you to sell the lot, but keep a few of the rare waves and sets to sell individually.

Cheers!

I have no idea what you will get if you sell it as a lot, but you have several rare sets such as the Tundra and Jungle, which should each get at least $100. I honestly think that if someone offers you less than $1000, they are low-balling you. If they only reimbursed you for what it would have cost retail, it would be around $750!

As someone who has been actively looking to expand his heroscape set, I can tell you at least the prices I'm seeing.

Valkyrie master sets go about 40-50
Marrow Master sets go about 50-60
D&D master sets go about 50-60
Marvel master sets go about 20-30

Castle is 20-30 per.
Road, Winter and Lava terrain sets go about 50 per.
Jungle sets go about 80-90 per.

Individual non-master set squads vary from 10-30 depending on the rarity.
The high value ones are the following:

Wave 2:
4th Mass Line
Knights of Weston
Minions of Utgar

Wave 3: Sentinels of Jandar

Wave 4: Gladitrons

Wave 6: Heavy Gruts

Wave 7: Templar Calvary

Wave 9:
Axegrinders of Burning Forge
Omnicron Repulsors
Protectors of Ullar
Marro Dividers

Large Figure set 1 is about 20
Large Figure set 2 is about 50
Large Figure set 3 is about 200-250.

Flagbearers are about 30-40 each.

Thanks all for your input. It sounds like parting it out is the way to go, though I would really rather avoid the effort. If I could find someone local to take it off my hands as a bundle even if they just wanted to flip it I'd be OK with that. I didn't realize what some of those bits could be worth. I guess I should thank Hasbro for blowing it?

I think if you added the low-end sale value of all of these, you'd get around $700-$750. That is, if an item sells individually for $10-$20, I'd assign it a $10 value, to reflect the discount stuff typically sells for when bundled up in massive lots. But because it's such a huge lot, I doubt you'd even get that much. But it is convenient to sell that way.

If you sold them individually, you'd get close to high-end value for many of them, especially the Tundra, Jungle and Raknar sets, plus a few of the small expansions. But it is time-consuming to sell that way.

So the question is how valuable is your time?

I did a little research on Heroscape lots on ebay:

9 large lots (some even larger one's than this lot) have sold on Ebay in the last 90 days for more than $500.00. 2 of them were for more than $1000 ( 1 contained 13 master sets) Many of those have the boxes and rares included as well. This was through Christmas which tends to fetch higher prices.

Recently, as of Feb 1st: a large lot that contained 2 master sets, tundra, volcarren, road, and assorted figs. sold for $435.00.

I always like to think of ebay as wholesale prices. Especially in auction format.

Heroscape in general has seen prices steadily increasing for the last several years. Sets that were common last year are now also becoming rare, like your master sets Swarm of the Marro and D&D.

Box it all up and put it in your attic or closet or somewhere and just forget about it. Pull it out in a two or three years and I predict you'd get at least double what you'd get today.

Strangely enough, it doesn't always work that way. In many cases that I've seen with games that have aged, the "interest" in the game has waned too and it seems that at some point (unless we're talking about Magic: The Gathering) the interest-level of fans drops lower than the limited supplies and then at that point, prices do get cheaper. I've seen this born out quite a few times. I love HeroScape (for the most part) but it's by no means even remotely as hot of a game as M:tG is and was, so I just don't see it holding up as well over time, either. Eventually, at some point, people move on and look for living games.
