I decided to figure out where all the best stores and meetups within ~40-50 miles of downtown Detroit were located and put them in a single resource on Google Maps.

The resulting map is here.

These were pulled off multiple threads (compiled here) and a couple of other sites.

I was hoping to add updated board game-related information, such as open board game days and times, size/selection/specialization, etc. I was also considering adding regular local meetups, such as ROBA or the library meetups. I was also thinking of creating a geeklist to match the entries on the map.

Suggestions and feedback appreciated!

RIW or Pandemonium are your best bets IIRC. If you are ever in the Flint area make sure to check out Gamers Sanctuary.

Re: All the FLGS in the Metro Detroit area
During recent return visit to Flint, I discovered that Gamers Sanctuary no longer carries boardgames- wasted trip.

Edit: I stand corrected (based upon a post below).

Ok found it. I assumed the marker was my location. I live really close by RIW.

Thanks! I live in Ann Arbor and I like Vault of Midnight quite a bit. They do of course have gaming nights, but they have a pretty great selection of games for sale. Monster wall of games in the basement.

Re: All the FLGS in the Metro Detroit area
Thanks for the feedback. It looks like I got most of the FLGS stores on there.

I'm going to see about adding local meetups next.

Any suggestions?

So far I've found some threads here:

1) Rochester/Oakland Boardgamers Association (ROBA)
2) Great Oak Board Game Day
3) Fun and Board Games in Metro Detroit

Anyone else know of regular public board game meetups they think I should add?

I'll put the guild link and meetup location on the map (unless that's not ok.)

Thanks for the info!

Added ROBA to the map with links to their guild and webpages along with some information about when they meet up.

Let me know if anyone else would like to add their meetup or FLGS to the map.

I would add the Great Oaks Boardgame Days (linked above). Google "Great Oaks Cohousing Ann Arbor" for the location.

Awesome job! Wish there was more towards the North. I live in Romeo, and it's a hike to anywhere good.

Yes, I love ROBA when I can make it. I am hoping someday for a closer store. Outside of stores that just sell mostly Magic, my best closest option is GOB in Madison Heights.

Guild of Blades.

It is a board game store. It has a great selection of games. They also carry retro video games and systems and rpg materials, etc.. Lots of cool old stuff but all the new stuff too. They also sport a library of over 100 modern board games that you can walk in and play whenever. What else.. lots of minis.. Battletech, pathfinder, a bunch of non warhammer but still fantasy type games, clearance grab bags of older pewter mins. They buy and sell all sorts of card games. I think they run thier own printing service and have published a number of smaller local wargames. Great store. Super nice couple run the joint.

I'm not sure, but I remember the first time I went, I drove right by even though I knew the address and was actively looking for it. It's pretty easy to miss.
