I was browsing for a list of the best scenarios to play and I came across a thread referring to the ASL Hall of Fame which was published in 2002 in ASL Journal #4.

I did a quick search of Game Squad and Consimworld and came up with no recent information on Hall of Fame scenarios either. If that is true... the last selection was then in 2002 as part of an article in Journal #4.

I think it is high time for a new selection of scenarios. I am happy to collect any nominations and suggestions for categories as part of this thread. If sufficient interest and nominees present themselves, by the end of February, we will proceed to a poll in the chosen categories and work to narrow down the list to eventually lock in on a final vote. It would be great to hear from you on your personal top 10.
The only real criteria at this point is as in 2002 - the scenario has to be at least 5 years old... So anything published in 2007 or prior will be accepted. That's official scenarios and TPP.

For reference here is the list from Journal #4 when there were 8 scenarios selected in 2 categories:
Best Scenario:
Acts of Defiance
Cold Crocodiles
White Tigers
Hill 621

Best Teaching / Learning Scenarios:
The Guards Counterattack
Defiance on Hill 30
Gavin Take
The Puma Prowls

Please put out your top ten!

Actually, Maczek Fire Brigade and Sting of the Italian Hornet were issued by MMP; the first in an ASL Journal and the second most recently this past January (2013). Which version of The Commissar's House do you prefer?--the one in Beyond Valor: ASL Module 1 (ASL 4: I'm guessing it is because I love it too!) or the version for Red Barricades: ASL Historical Module 1 (HASL 2)?

Sounds good - that's going to take a lot of nominees.
I especially like the CG / Historical map questions...
So start us off, what are your favourites for each?

Yeah, I went for the Friendly Fire versions to get in under the date restrictions. And the BV version of The Commissar's House was the one I had in mind. What a blast!

Howdy-

The best early war scenarios are going to be from Poland in Flames by Chas Smith, those are gonna seriously blow away the competition. I have been bloging my playtests here:

http://talk.consimworld.com/WebX/.1dd5576b/40

As for Hall of fame scenarios here are my Picks:

Blood Factory RBF 43
Fast Hienze J78
Good Night Sweet Prince ASL 87
The Last Bid RB5
The Fist Bid VotG 1

I think we can be prolific in categories. With the internet you can grab a lot of participants.

I'd add a category for best SK scenario unless they can be entered as Best Newbie Scenario. Maybe also best non-WWII scenario? And best for playing solo?

There will be a ton of different lists just because every player has his own list of what he thinks is hall of fame material. For example, I do agree that AP55 The Generalissimo's Own and AP23 Agony at Arnautovo are awesome scenarios, on the other hand J121 Schloss Hemingstein one of the worst scenarios I played a few years back, very very boring for the defender plus SSR 2 is a bit clunky.

Great for the attacker, but only good for the defender. A fairly standard fall back defense, not enough opportunities for maneuver. A tough defense, just not a great defense. Of course, I prefer more maneuver options. Or the fun of creating a highly static defense - caves, trenches, pillboxes, oh my!

Here are a list of new items in 2007 which would just make the list for eligibility. This is just new stuff (per Desperation Morale) in 2007 so older stuff is already qualified!
Obviously if ESG's Dezign Pak 2 is eligible then Dezign Pak 1 is eligible too...

Good old CH, 7 or 8 products out the door within a years time span and probably none were playtested. I think last year CH cranked out like 25 products lol. Thank gawd I aint a collector or a completest Wargamer.

As much as pitman is a royal pain in the butt, the few Returned pack had some very good scenarios with in it. Paul Kinney's Buda Pack was also pretty good but suffered from numerous proof reading gaffs.
