I played mafia over the weekend and liked it and would like to make or buy a better edition:

Should I get

Lupus in Tabula
The Werewolves of Millers Hollow
Are You A Werewolf?

or a homemade copy,

thanks for your help.

Not sure I'm totally new to it. Only played it a few times. Here's my homemade copy. http://mrbass.org/boardgames/party/werewolf

I'm fond of just using a deck of cards to pass out roles. Just use normal number cards for villagers, a king each for the werewolves, and an ace for the seer. Or whatever cards you prefer. No need to spend $10 on a special set of cards.

I use my own homemade copy and you know, I really like it a lot. I used the one on Andrew Plotkin's site. He's the guy who created Werewolf from Mafia in the first place. The PDF file is here.

You can find the link to it halfway down his Werewolf page here.

The cards are smiley faces for villagers, the same smileys with small fangs added for werewolves, and a third eye on the smiley for the seer. Simple and clever. I like them a lot. If you're not looking for lots of other roles, they are great.

The BGG Forum version.... laugh

I prefer the Asmodee version as far as rules go, but the Lupis version has more cards and thus can accomodate larger groups. I own both.
