It's quite unconvenient to write down things on paper, this modification gets rid of it (instead you put research cards on the table and put counters on them). Also it makes technology phase more meaningful (by limiting the option of buying RP and ecouraging planning).
Choose one of those actions:
- play a technology card from your hand (pay 20RP) and put it in front of you also put your HC on it, you are the owner (researcher/patent holder) of that research card
- put your HC on another player's technology card (pay 10RP to the bank and give 10FB to the owner of that technology card)
- get 1RP for free or pay 5FB for 5RP or pay 10FB for 8RP or pay 20FB for 12RP (choose only one!)
- discard a technology card from your hand to get 5RP
Everyone who has a HC counter on a research card get its benefit.
Remove "Inquisition E - House w least Church Influence loses target Tech" from the fate deck (or you can change it to "remove a HC counter from a tech, you can reresearch it later, owner can not be targetted" or more thematic one "remove all HC counters from all proscribed technologies (which are all technologies that boost Bioweapon (Genetics only in the standard deck) discard those cards").
Recommended change to HOUSE HAZAT "House Hazat gets 3 free Research Points per turn" (because RP is worth more with this modification)
Recommended to add more E cards to fate deck (since T cards won't be circulating that much since these would be rarely discarded). It's best to have around 50 cards (plus technologies). You could just make 2 copies of each current E card.
Change "Players may trade cards, FB, Technologies, Scepters, Fleets, Worlds, Influence, etc. during this phase." remove the technologies part, these can't be directly traded anymore.
