At a recent day of gaming, we had the opportunity to play a game of Democrazy. The participants where George, Anna Maria, Andrew, Chris, C.K., Brian, John, Chris M., and Jarret.

The crazy laws started getting passed right off the bat, as early in the game Jarrett, passed a law making yellow chips worth nothing. This put the non-yellow chip holders in an early lead, but the game would see many more laws enacted and retracted before game end.

Anna Maria played the sneakiest move of the game, attempting to pass a law giving all female players 5 points. Being the only female player, this law was doomed to failure, and some players scratched their heads as to why she would even attempt such enacting such a law, as it was sure to be shot down. After the law was voted “No”, as suspected, Anna Maria then surprised the group by playing “Scandal”, which reverses the ruling on any vote. This move put Anna Maria into an early lead, but it didn’t last long as Chris M. soon passed a law removing all previous laws from the game.

With no laws in play, the game was put back to the beginning. Brian quickly threw a monkey wrench into the works by passing a law which makes all players have to vote with their left hand, else they lose a chip. As soon as the law was played, Chris succumbed to habit and used his right hand to vote, losing a chip in the process. Another law quickly got played forcing players to stand while voting, else they also will lost a chip. These hand-switching and standing up actions quickly fouled up George, who also lost a chip.

Laws continued to get passed and rejected for a time, but Chris was finally able to get a law passed making Yellow chips worth double points. The END card came shortly after, enabling yellow players to score heavy. The final scores were: Chris M. 13, C.K. 12, Chris 10, Brian 10, John 9, Jarrett 8, George 7, Anna Maria 5, Andrew 5.
