I am going to be going to a gaming weekend in a few weeks and am hoping to get in a game of 18XX. I believe I'm the only one with (relatively) extensive experience with 18XX. One other gamer has probably played 5 - 10 times. I won't be playing unless we have at least 3 players (which is all that's expressed an interest so far).

My question is should I bring 1889 or 1830 (or another?). 1830 has more versatility if we end up with more players; however, if it's only 3 players, I like 1889 more.

question 1: with 4 players, which do you think is better?

question 2: is 1889 any good with 5 or 6 players?

if you want to look at my collection and suggest another 18XX, feel free. I'd rather bring 1846, but I think 1830 or 1889 would be easier to teach. Thoughts?

I see you have Steam over Holland. For absolute noobs, it's not a bad introduction game. (So people who played never or 1 game).
