PS: I am finishing a firefight generator that will allow you to create any firefight for the eastern front, whatever the date and units. Won't be as near as good as what Uwe does, but it will help !

Work in progress sheep

Nickos wrote:
Hi everybody! I'm a designer in charge of the firefights of the Monster Tanks Expansion. Currently I'm working on converting the finished battles into the correct format. In parallel, I'm developing even more battles, together with one or two partners in crime.
As a history major, my main aim is of course historical accuracy. Nevertheless, balancing and game play receive quite high priority. Even if some battles might not seem exactly fair, I am convinced that they'll prove to be a lot of fun - especially since we plan to pitch the Monster Tanks in a row of heated battles in very interesting places. For your convenience, you'll find here a list of the scenarios we're currently working on:

1 - Steppenbrand - Deep in the reaches of the Caucasus, spearheads of German tanks and soviet Cossacks supported by lend-lease-tanks clash over a small steppe village. Sure, it might only be a village - but in the vast reaches of the steppe, every village is a vital link in a probable supply chain.

2 - UNTITLED - Kursk 1943 - northern sector. German tanks and Panzergrenadiers have to push through a soviet bulwark before they will be crushed by the sheer mass of the Red Army. Fortunately, the "Panzerjäger", Germany's new anti-tank forces, are ready for battle and could turn the tides of war.

3 - Red Anger - Operation Bagration 1944. War begins to look quite different now - the Red Army unleashes a giant offensive, an attack of unprecedented scale, and suddenly the Germans are in dire straits. Will they manage to hold their ground against Zhukov's storm?

4 - Bloody Business - Retreating german troops have to escort a convoy of high-ranking German officers through a forest infested by guerillas - soviet partisans and their communist polish allies are just aching for a chance to shed german blood.

5 - It's alive! - Berlin 1945. World War 2 is as good as finished, but you try to tell that to the Germans. In the ruins of Berlin, desperate defenders choose death over surrender to soviet mercy: At Göringstrasse, French Waffen-SS-soldiers prepare for their last stand. They receive reinforcements in form of a few experimental super-heavy tanks - but the soviets, bent on crushing the last resistance, deem it time to field certain unknown monsters.

6 - UNTITLED - A "what if" scenario: German troops defending their armies HQ south of Berlin against the soviet onslaught receive some additional help from the Maus - the heaviest tank ever built...

Those are the DEFINITE battles showing up in the bundle, which will - as soon as we're done - be published as a .pdf on Academy Games' website. What we're needing are playtesters: Everyone willing to participate and test scenarios to help me find the right balancing - please send me a message.

Hello All,

Nick is not the only one working for Uwe creating scenarios for these monster tank counters. I am too, and I need some people to play test the first three scenarios I have done. I should have a few more done in the next several weeks, as I plan to make about 5-6 of these. I have found that the process takes longer than it seems at first. Still, my goal is to be done with these, to include some playtesting, by the end of June at latest.

If you are interested, message me directly.

FYI, I'll be at the Consim Expo in Phoenix next week, if you are interested in playing testing these scenarios (or just playing CoH in general), message me.

Which games will these new scenarios require? By that I mean which maps and other counters will be needed. I do not own AtB but I do own SoS and PoH. So will I be able to play most of these?

Dominic,

Well, it is time for you to buy AtB! All of the firefights I have made so far require AtB, mostly for the maps. Some of them use AtB counters too, but mostly they are SoS pieces. None require PoH components though.

Well I do plan on getting AtB eventually and this gives me a little more of a reason to do so. Thanks for the information.

I wonder if Nickos' firefights will also require AtB?

Yes, the process is slow. Myself I bought the counter sheet back around Christmas.

I got started making these FF's about the first of April after I talked to Uwe about it. I had to figure out what I wanted in each FF, then learn how to use InDesign. Now I have to get them play tested, at least a few times. I have three in testing. Now that those are at that point, I can spend some more time writing up some more. My goal is to have the first three to Academy Games by the end of June. The next three after that by late July/early August.
