Actually, Ridley Scott didn't "rip off" anything; the story was written by Dan O'Bannon and Ron Shusett. They had to shop the script for a long time before they managed to get Brandywine Productions to produce it. Dan O'Bannon admits the story was "inspired by" previous SF stories. Though it was a tale re-told, Ridley Scott brought it to horrific life better than anyone before him, IMO.
The game Intruder is a knockoff of aliens directly. Space station with scientists and engineers, no military types, misinformation with stray animals, using whatever weapons can be found, and a mutant alien creature. It shares much more with the movie than it does not.
Where ever the script originated the game copies the films basic premise.
Anyway the point of the post was to comment on the funny coincidence of the ship being named Prometheus just like the newer film.
