The December Meetups were a success - among the games played were Zendo, TransAmerica, Ra, Richochet Robot, Railroad Tycoon, San Juan and more. You can see a full list of the games played on the December 1st Meetup and the December 18th Meetup at these two GeekLists (a list for December 15th is not avaialble):

Dec 1st: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=view&listi...
Dec 15th: no list
Dec 18th: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=view&listi...

As usual, we have two Meetups scheduled for the upcoming month of January:

Thu, Jan 5, 2006 at 6:30 PM
- note that our normal First Tuesday night Meetup has been moved to the First Thursday
http://boardgames.meetup.com/23/events/4808846/

Thu, Jan 19th at 6:30 PM

http://boardgames.meetup.com/23/events/4817186/

The 6:30 PM start time may be early but you can come late or just bring dinner with you. If you want to play a specific game, bring it, or just play what's there. On Thursdays, Neutral Ground is open till 12 midnight should you choose to stay late.

There is no admission fee, and the group is open to all.

All Boardgame Meetups are held at the Neutral Grounds Gaming Room:
Neutral Grounds Gaming Room
122 W 26th St 4th Floor
New York, NY 10001
212-633-1288

Hope to see some Geeks there!

Hi Daniel,

I'm going to come to the NYC Boardgame Group tonight. I've been meaning to go for a while now, but finally set aside the time to make it tonight. Anyway, I have two questions though:

1) The group's website and the e-mail confirmations I received both said that the start time tonight was 6pm. Has it been changed to 6:30pm or was that a typo?

2) Do you or anyone else reading this have any requests for me to bring based on my collection in my profile? I was planning to bring Amun-Re and one other game, but am not sure whether that other game will be Oasis, Torres, New England, Ra, Through the Desert, or something else entirely. Let me know, preferably through posting here and through GeekMail, since I may not check this thread again.

Looking forward to seeing you all at Neutral Ground tonight.

-Tom

The start time is a bit nebulous - for whatever reason, the first meetup of the month is listed as 6pm, the second as 6:30 pm. Most people don't show up until 7pm (and some people show up even later), but there are almost always 4 or 5 people there at 6:30. Since Neutral Grounds is open until midnight, we've got plenty of time for gaming, so it's not all that imperitive to show up exactly on time.

If you brought Ra with you, I'd definately be up for a game. Through the Desert is somewhat popular, so I'm sure you could easily find willing opponents for that as well. With over 40 people RSVPing "yes", and 16 "maybes", I don't think there's going to be a lack of opponents for any game.

See you there!

Hi Tom and Daniel!

Tom, welcome to our Boardgames Meetup! I am delighted you can make it tonight. And thank you for previously adding a comment to the Geeklist Sandy (puella) posted about her and my meeting on Dec. 27th at Neutral Ground, "A Tale of Two Geeks and Their Gaming Adventure". ( http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=view&listi... ) I am very much looking forward to meeting you.

Tom, you are correct in stating that tonight's Meetup begins at 6:00pm. The reason that our Third Thursday Meetup (on Jan. 19th begins) at 6:30pm is this: I am primarily responsible for organizing the Third Thursday Meetup, and I prefer a later starting time. Also, I don't want people who can't make it at 6pm (many Manhattan office workers would have difficulty arriving on time for a 6:30pm Meetup) to feel they will be late.

But we are truly a geeky crowd. I am always surprised by how many people show up at 6:00pm at BOTH Meetups (and I usually come a bit late). I think it is more than the "4 or 5" that Daniel speaks of. So please feel free to come at 6:00pm, I think tonight you'll likely see 15 people there at that early time.

Daniel and I are both official "Assistant Organizers" of the the NYC Boardgames Meetup and we invite people to join our Meetup, and to attend tonight's event if you'd like.

It is free to join Meetup.com.

See you both tonight, Tom and Daniel!

David

Hi David,

Thanks for replying. It was a fun GeekList to read. I'm looking forward to the Boardgames Meetup. Any games from my collection you'd like me to bring? I'll try to bring Ra for Daniel. See you later.

-Tom
