I need some help. Is it possible/easy to play this in another language, given that a traslation of the rules is available? I.e. is there lots of text on the cards and the like?

Most cards are easily identified by symbols. There are a few complex cards that would need translation, like Indians or Dynamite, but this game is language neutral.

Character cards are always placed in the open in front of you, huh? So noone has to reveal his card to ask for an explanation?
And for the roles there are only... four or so? Sheriff, deputy, robber, renegade?

Right.

With a translation you need only a minimum effort to play a "foreign" edition.
have fun!

i might add that the german-only version published by abacus spiele is a bit different.
the book symbol (for looking up the rules) has been removed and instead the rules have been printed on such cards as barrel or dynamite.

but as stated before, with the rules in your language you should have no problem.

edit:
besides, lots of the rules printed on the cards (e.g. character cards) are kind of incomplete and you need to look them up in the manual anyway.
