I wanted to start a discussion on how people decide where to post threads.
For example I posted 2 reccommendation threads (each had a different question btw), one in the bgg reccommendation forums and the other in the Dice Tower guild forums.
I got great responses from both, but I did not want to post the same thread in 2 places and it seems like some users may post more frequently in a guild forum as opposed to the general forums.
I also created a thread that I would love to get response from the Dice Tower guild; however it is already posted in the gaming with family forum.
I am looking for advice on where I should be posting questions and thoughts.
Does it come down to specific criteria based on each post or do you have more general reccommendations?

If it is to do with a particular game and it's mechanics, I'd always go to that game's forum (or guild as you refer to it).
If it's a general question where there can be several points to be made then I'd use one of the general forums.
Really I think it's just common sense. If something is posted somewhere it really doesn't belong it is normally brought to an Admins attention quite hastily and moved on the poster's behalf.
If you feel that it's the right place to post, it generally is Don't stress too hard about it, we're all (for the most part) a very friendly crowd that is more than happy to help
