If you have a standard playing card deck, dueling nobles is pretty fun I think. Basically, you're King, Queen, and Jack are characters, while they battle with the number cards, use suite abilities, and generate resources to spend. It plays very much like a ccg, if you're familiar with those. I'm gonna post a small expansion soon, with alternate abilities for the Nobles.

I just made a copy of Dschunke: Das Legespiel and last week I made a copy of Micropul. Both very easy to construct and you can probably make them both in one evening. Both are 2 player games.

"Death Angel" and all its expansions are a hoot. They really conjure up the feel of a slasher movie.

That and "Ghoulash" is an excellent filler.

wow death angel looks awesome, ill do that tomorrow, also learn the rules for Dueling Nobels,

i checked out Dschunke: Das Legespiel looks cool but Micropul, how do u make those tiles?

ALso ghoulash looks fun, but do u print out a new sheet each tiem u play or do u laminate it and use dry erase?

Another thing, can u help a noob out and have any suggestions on what to print things on, such as cards=cardstock.
Thicker pieces= ??

example, what should i use for Rat Hot or Dschunke: Das Legespiel ?
thanks

You can try Punch! a free cardgame for two about boxing. It's free to download, pretty easy to make and fun enough to play.

I go to an art store and buy sections of illustrator board. They work pretty well. If you look at the geek comments for Rat Hot/Dschunke: Das Legespiel I spelled out what I did to make mine. Essentially, you print the tiles on paper/cardstock/fullsheet adhesive label then paste it onto heavier stock, like the illustrator board, or foamcore or something, the you use a straight edge and a sharp knife to cut it out.

There is a simple technique for cutting out regularly shaped tiles like for micropul that makes things a little easier where you leave enough base material on one edge of the sheet and cut all the lines in one direction opposite to that extra material (think of those home made ads that have contact numbers printed on the bottom of the page then are cut part way up the sheet so the numbers are feathered in a way that they can be torn off individually). Then, when you cut the opposing direction you can cut all the strips at once and help keep the tiles more uniform in size. I will take a picture and post it if you still aren't clear (actually I was gonna do this anyhow).

Edit:
Here are some pictures on how I made the tiles:

Café Race is a race game set in a business office. The players take the role of office workers going upstairs to the first floor to get a cup of coffee who then improvise a race while they are going back downstairs… with a cup full of coffee.

Unless the site you reference is somehow inappropriate or illegal, or perhaps a promotion of your own site or some sort of advertising trap, I don't think it's disallowed or even frowned upon, however I am not an authority in this matter. There's probably a policy document here somewhere...

I wouldn't worry about it - the grognard site is featured in the related links section on the games pages themselves (see http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/9438)

Do a geeklist search for "pencil" for some great pencil and paper adaptations of "through the desert" and others.
