We have played Snorta with large groups (20+ players) using more than one game box. Along with players switching tables between games we used the following change to speed up the game a bit and add variety.

1. When the “Swap” card is played, the player does not select a new animal. The player swaps his cards with that of any other player at the same table.

2. The ‘table’ cards remain face up even after a match has been made. Table cards are added to the player’s hand only when a player’s entire hand has been played out. (When his hand is played out, he flips all but the top card over to form a new hand.) When a player plays the “Swap” card (as described above) he exchanges only the table cards, not the hand.

There are two advantages to playing this variant. In addition to increasing the variety of play, it often allows a player that is far behind to move into the lead. The game is fairly chaotic to begin with so this added bit of chaos does not significantly change the play of the game.
