Players: Russ, Kendra, Steve, Clark and myself
I had just picked this game up and was glad to have a chance to try it. The first thing we noticed is that the blue and purple cards were too close in color. Why pick blue and purple when there are only four "suits" in a game?
Anyway, everyone caught on to the simple rules quickly. I like how it plays. Think about it if you want, but you can play mindlessly too.
Throughout the game I kept drawing several merchant ships. I'm not sure how to do well with so many ships. I tried to put several out, but it just let everyone else have more options to take them or get away with easy pickings elsewhere.
In the end, Russ won. He managed to take a lot of his own ships.
So, I felt my chances to win were slim to none due to the luck of the draw. I have faith in Dr. Knizia, though, that this was probably not typical. I look forward to trying again!
