I am looking for non-mounted Knights/Paladins/Heros etc. Which company is recommendable? I am familiar with Games Workshop (GW) and is quite confident when it comes to details and quality. Their mounted Knights/Paladins/Heros are very nice but they are - mounted . Non-mounted unit are too "fantasy" if you ask me. Reaper on the other hand has a long list of foot-soldiers (Knights/Paladins/Heros included). My question is whether Reaper is a reasonable substitute or are they even better?

GW is for sale in Danish shops (Reaper is not - as I am concerned)

The miniatures is not used for roleplay but for brushing up a boardgame only. Whether the units are painted or not is of no concern. I like to do it my way

Thank you

Link for Reaper shop in US if you need to take a look for yourself

Have you considered historical miniature ?

Try www.perry-miniatures.com, their Agincourt to Orleans range could do the trick (select French Command on Foot for an example, see picture below for direct link).

Reaper all the way-- Go Reaper!

PS~ Depending on the model- but almost always Reaper seems to me to have greater quality.

If you want 25/28 mm figures, Reaper is fantastic. Most gamers I know have a bunch of Reaper replacements scattered in their various armies.

If you don't care about scale, then definitely check out 20mm (or 1/72 scale) plastic historical figures. 40 figures (usually 20 in 2 poses, or 10 in 4 poses) for approximately 10 US dollars. You can't go wrong!

I'm not familiar with Reaper miniatures but I personally haven't found a company to rival Games Workshop in terms of miniature quality. It's just a pity they're so darned expensive.

As for non-mounted knights, I recently picked up a few Teutogen guards for use in the Warhammer role-playing game I'm running. They're a bit hairy (long beards and braids) but are in full plate mail and look pretty cool.

Having said that, those Perry miniatures in the previous post look pretty cool (and those guys actually work (or worked) for Games Workshop didn't they?)

I have found such a company, imho the miniatures of Rackham (Confrontation) are of excellent detail and offer very dynamic postures, at least for the fantasy realm.

Try Wargamesfoundry if you are looking for awesome authentic knights.
http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/main.asp

a few examples of War Games Foundry Knights

Reaper has some great miniatures, and the price is also very reasonable(by pewter weight, not classification of the mini in the game). But GW has always had great minis, but they also are quite spendy.

Browse the Reaper site to see if anything catches your eye before disregarding them. Ive used them for conversions for Blood Bowl, and most often people ask where I bought them, because they are original.

If your heart is set on GW, the old Bretonians had a few knights on foot

Too funny. I had posted a while back looking for MOUNTED Paladins. I saw a ton of non-mounted heros, but did not find a mounted GW mini that would work. Can you point me to a picture of a mounted GW Paladin?
I did get several folks recommending the mounted Reaper Paladin (and they seemed to have a good selction of non-mounted knights also). And also several folks mentioned a company called Old Glory that might have something that would work for you.

Dark Haven is around 25-28, and Warlord is 28-30.. GW is now about 28-30.. It seems miniatures are really getting taller over the years to show more detail.

As a games retailer and as a gamer, I highly recommend Reaper. The Games Workshop is excellent in terms of game mechanics but Reaper minis are the best I've ever painted or played with
