Just got back from picking up a lot of wargaming stuff that a guy was selling on Craigslist. I'm not a huge wargamer myself, but I did want some of it, such as the Combat Commander stuff, Hammer of the Scots, and Europe Engulfed.

Looks like all of the insert material is here, counters punched and clipped.

So, seeing as I'm not huge into wargaming and mainly bought the lot for the stuff I wanted, is there anything of a lot of value here I should be aware of? The mags are the main thing it's harder to research since I can find all the games here on BGG to find a value.

Combat Commander: Battle Pack #1 is currently out of print. I have just gotten into Combat Commander and have yet to see a copy of it for sale. Perhaps others have more accurate info.

Ebay has most of the C3I mags in the $15-$20 range.

Combar Commander Mediterranean is also out of print!

Men of Iron is out of print, Hammer of the Scots is a perennial favourite among the "which block game should I try first" crowd...

Nice haul!

That's a hefty lot of games. But nothing overly valuable. You won't be able to swap any of those 1-for-1 for a copy of The Longest Day, for example. And the whole lot shouldn't fetch a copy of Trafalgar.

Whether or not it was a great deal depends on the price you paid for it.

Chad and I both live in the KC area so he beat me to this haul. Mind you most of this stuff I already have myself although Normandy '44 would happily been accepted into my collection. I found the Craigslist post for this by the way and thus know how much you paid. Chad you did well.

Combat Commander Paratroopers is running about $50-$60 on Ebay at the moment. Mediterranean is also out of print but not going for super high dollars yet ($60-$70 generally it seems). It's to big a title for GMT to leave it out of print long.

Chad let me know anytime you want to play Combat Commander.

My favorite 18xx game for six players is two games of 1846 with three players each.

Normandy '44 is currently out of stock, though it's up on P500 for reprint. Someone who wants it right now would consider this valuable. Also Ardennes '44 is out of stock; the new upgraded 2nd edition went in a flash. Do you have the 1st edition or the 2nd edition?

1st. It also has some counters from a C3i mag in there.

I'd say if you are willing to take Hammer of the Scots for a spin - and you should, it's a great game - you should also give Warriors of God a try. I'd put them at about the same level of complexity.

I think the 1st edition of Ardennes '44 has a market value well below that of the 2nd, because the 2nd is so gorgeous. Unless you find someone who for some reason wants the 1st (but if so, it shouldn't be hard for them to find someone who swapped up.)

c3I issue 19 tends to go for quite a bit more than the other out of print ones. I have seen it sell for $50.

Agree Warriors of God is a good simple wargame, worth a try. If not, it's OOP and should be easy to sell or trade.

kind of pointless tho unless you share either a hard dollar # or some expression of discount.

We can all guess the value (perceived as it may be, for instance I have sold all my CC, so its value to me is much less), but posting that you "got a deal' is nice, but kinda meaningless.

Good for you in any case. Oh I got a deal on Devils Cauldron...it is a really good deal, got it on Ebay. Great story...but I wont tell you what I paid....whistle
