Andrea and I decided to play three SWEDs, after agreeing a rubber match would allow a decided victor. We did our usual paper, scissors, rock to determine who was on first, and she won. For our three sessions, we played the following:

1. Count Dooku (Steve) – chosen due to homage to the Hammer films vs. Han and Chewie (chicks love Harrison and fuzzy dudes?!?).
2. Mace (Steve) vs. Boba Fett (Andrea’s favorite character)
3. Darth Vader & troopers (Steve) vs. Yoda and his forcible familiars (Andrea)

In our first round, Count Dooku and his Super Battle Droids squared off with Han and Chewie. It almost seemed like a version of musical chairs as Dooku chased Han who chased troopers who chased...around the pillar. The battle went 15 rounds before the first loss, when Chewie peered around the pillar to blast a SBD right smack in his visor and laid him out.

After an amazing 37 rounds (!!!), it came down to Dooku and Han/Chewie. Dooku was worried about suppressing fire, and laid low. Han and Chewie kept up the assault, but soon Dooku engaged them, inflicting massive damage to Han. Chewie came to the rescue and blasted Dooku to smithereens. Andrea 1, Steve 0

In the next match Steve selected Mace (his favorite Jedi) against the formidable Boba Fett (Andrea); laser for hire. Mace and Co., who rushed the field and had Boba on heels, pressed the advantage. After exchanging battle damage around, Mace drew and played his specialty cards. The battle never again appeared civil. Mace rushed and tripped up Boba, and the battle waged on, taking on a most comical essence. After 13 rounds, Mace destroyed Boba with a wicked purple swipe! Andrea 1, Steve 1

Third and final round pitted Darth (Steve) against Yoda (Andrea). Would the good side be ready to defeat the dark? This battle went 17 rounds, with Yoda and Darth standing off, toe-to-toe, after the 9th round. Special cards then came into play and Darth crippled then defeated Yoda. It wasn't pretty, but the dark side was victorious!
Andrea 1, Steve 2

Yeah, usually Yoda and his eleventy-billion uber-defense cards are too much for Vader to break through, and Vader has like zip for defense. Agreed, though--upsets like that are cool!

Out of curriosity, how many times did you run through your deck(s) in #1?

I'm not quite sure, but it was certainly more than twice. At one point late Dooku was drawing just droid cards and kept healing himself. Han had sceen enough and pressed the battle, making the supreme sacrifice.

Agreed, but Yoda was not really feeding off the force this time round as afterwards Andrea complained of 'drawing poor cards'...just goes to show it's not always a George-like happy ending!
