Legends of Andor is a good one, you may also like Defenders of the Realm, this has a dragon in it and there is a dragon expansion. I believe Talisman (Revised 4th Edition) has a dragon expansion as well.

To some extent:
Dragonheart, is about freeing the great dragon
Blue Moon , you win by attracting 3 dragons
Blue Moon City, you get points(scales) by making offers in the presence of the 3 dragons

Now see, I had to go and ask a question that is going to make me spend a lot of money!

Thanks everyone these look great! If it has a dragon in it, we are going to check it out!! Especially the ones with the Dragon figures. Game mechanic?...Who cares? Balanced game?...Didn't ask! Plastic/chip board dragons?...WE'RE IN!!

I should have said from the start that the goal was to play with my wife and kids, but I don't want to limit the thread to "kids games". I feel they can rise to the challenge. Especially with my 7 year old routinely kicking my but in Small World!

Thanks so much, and keep the suggestions coming! Do I have money to spend?...Not really...but thats what credit cards are for!!whistle

Heroscape has some of the best dragon figures of all time, beautifully done and they come pre-painted. Plus it is a really great game the whole family can enjoy. Only downside is its now OOP so you'll need to get it on Ebay, Craigslist or through trade and many of the best expansions are getting pretty costly now.

I was already going to suggest Dragonland before reading this, and now I cannot recommend it enough. Yes, the main mechanic is roll-and-move, but don't let that turn you off. It's used intelligently and the game is much less luck-driven than the mechanic suggests. This is a Knizia game and it shows. However, the dragons are just cardboard tokens, if that matters.

Blue Moon City is great, a must-have specially as a family game. Blue Moon is an excellent two-player game, but the dragon miniatures are basically scoring markers, although thematically present. I also second Dragonheart for two players, but you really don't do anything meaningful with the dragon here, either. Just as a curiosity, notice that the three games use the same dragon sculpt.

I have been enjoying Legends of Andor very much, but I should warn you that the dragon is only used in the last of the five scenarios.

Oh!, and for a simple dungeon crawl that everyone can enjoy, check Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of Ashardalon Board Game. You will not find a better dragon miniature in another boardgame.

Yes, but maybe a little heavy to play with the wife and kids, don't you think?

Depends on the wife and kids. I'm planning on buying it to play with my children (wife is an absolute non-gamer).

Magic: the Gathering has lots of Dragon cards. You can probably build several dragon-based decks that all do something different.

One of the means of transportation in Elfenland is by dragon.

In the Year of the Dragon doesn't feature dragons as such, but it is a great game and the title makes it a worthwhile addition to your collection.

River Dragons will probably be fun for the younger set. It's more of a family game than a heavy strategy game, but fun nonetheless.

Teramyyd has a couple of dragons and looks awesome...

They got the design for one of their dragons from Drake, which is a more dragon focused game but not one I can afford/am interested in at the moment.

Tsuro is fun too =)
