So I was real disappointed with the tiny little blocks that were included with my game. Too small and far too easy to use and destroy. I decided to take matters into my own hands (I'm a manufacturing engineer at a metal fabricator) and make a custom set of tokens to be used with Love Letter (or any other game, really).

I came up with a set of 13 laser cut 1/8" stainless steel, polished, custom heart tokens. Even put them in a handsome burgundy drawstring pouch. They seemed to generate enough interest that I thought a broader audience might also want to purchase a set. With that, I thought I would post here and see. Any interest?

How much would a set weigh? One potential downside would be the possibility of damage to the cards.

There must have been a moment at the beginning, where we could have said no. Somehow we missed it. Well, we'll know better next time.

Only if you've got them in the same bag. Looks like he's got them in a separate bag (although that makes the game a little less portable).

In life you have to do a lot of things you don't f*cking want to do. Many times, that's what the f*ck life is... one vile f*cking task after another.

Aren't they just standard wooden cubes? What are you doing that they are being destroyed?

Remind me to never sit down and play Through the Ages with you. With all those wooden cubes and discs, it would be carnage.

Working on coming up with a fair price. I went to the post office at lunch today and asked for the cheapest shipping method. I was quoted $2.24 to ship them in a bubble mailer to San Francisco (I used zip 94102).

Cost of material + pouch + bubble mailer + shipping. Amazing how seemingly mundane things can add up. I should be able to keep the cost under $10 easily but I still want to figure out if there's a cheaper shipping method.

I don't want to retire on these things but I'd like to make enough per set to at least buy myself a beer.

If this works out alright I'll definitely consider making tokens/pieces for lots of different games that decided to go the cheap route for game pieces.

Great tokens. If only I lived in the US!

These look stunning and I would love to have some, though I suspect transatlantic shipping (to the UK) would increase the price significantly.

I have no problems shipping overseas as long as you pick up the shipping cost. I'm not a douche and I simply refuse to mark up shipping cost. What it costs for me to ship is what it would cost for you. I'll get a price from USPS and update the thread next week.

I'm interested in a set as long as the bag of pieces will fit in the bag with the cards.

Depending on the price, I might be interested as well.

For comparison, I found some heart-shaped wooden bits at meeplesource.com. A pack of 10 hearts cost $2.50 and shipping (location dependent) was another $2.07.

I got the game as an anniversary present for my wife. I was going to pick up the wooden bits to make the game a little nicer. Now I may have to wait until we hear back on the SS tokens.
