This is a work in progress, but fully playable game I am working on. At the moment players only need standard playing cards and cubes to be able to play. Just print out the rules and you are ready to go.

This is a simple game for me but one myself and the misses have had some fun play-testing.

Eventually I hope to shed the standard playing cards for tiles and design a proper medieval theme and title to go along with it.

Alpha rules are here:

____

A Strategy game for 2 players.

Prepare yourself to explore, claim and battle your way to victory!

Playtime: 15-30 min

List of Components:

20 cards from a standard deck consisting of:
All of the 2's, 3's and 4's
Two 8's of any suit
One Black (Clubs or Spades) King and the matching Queen
One Red (Diamonds or Hearts) King and the matching Queen
Remaining two Queens from the deck
Five Red cubes
Five Black cubes

Description of Game:

King of the Cards (working title) is a strategy game using only pieces you already own that pits two Kings against each other in a battle for new lands. Players move their armies through the unknown lands connecting the two kingdoms in an attempt to discover new lands and claim them as their own. Beware though as dangerous mountains may slow down your progress and the King on the other side of the world is advancing on the same areas… with the same idea as you!

Very strange. Haven't had any problems with the file. I went ahead and converted it to a Word document and added that as a second link.
