To add a level of haste and tension, take x poker chips and stack them next to the board (the Time Stack). Remove one chip at the start of each turn. The person who started the game would be the timer. When you are out of chips, the group has one turn to defeat Margath or achieve three Dragon Runes between them. If not, they all lose.

Let's say a group of beginners are playing their first game. What should "x" be? Is 25 too many? Too few?

If the group wins, reduce the Time Stack for your next game. If you lose, add one to the Time Stack.

This Time Stack would open up opportunities for new skill checks. For example, a wizard could perform a Magic Skill Check (16). Success, slow time and add one time chip; Failure, take 1 wound.

Thoughts?

Chuck

If anyone plays with the Time Stack, I hope you post your results as a response in this article. Let us know the number playing, the height of your Time Stack, and whether you succeeded or failed.
