A few years ago, I ran a March Madness-style tournament on Facebook to determine the "all-time greatest frontman to a rock band" (Freddie Mercury won over Robert Plant in a slight surprise).
At the time, I had an idea for a new poll - one that was far more ambitious (and far more time-consuming to put together). Well, there's ONE thing unemployment is good for, I suppose!
So, I've started a tournament to determine the all-time greatest guitar solo. You can read all the details on my blog (this is the introductory post). My most recent post completes the field (of 320!) and provides links to all the surveys so far.
The first post lists the criteria for inclusion (which should eliminate any "I can't believe so-and-so isn't on the list")
I'll update this thread with each subsequent round. Voting for these first rounds ends this Wednesday, April 17, around 10:30pm EST.
You're 100% right - of course, and the title is probably a bit audacious. But, it took *weeks* to get through the songs to determine these contestants ... it would be far more work to check *every song every created!*
But, a bunch of Clapton songs are still in -- he's been the most resilient. In fact, one of the ones remaining would've been my choice for #2 overall (except, the brackets randomized where it'll hit my #1 overall well before the Final Four)
