Hi All!

I'm back looking for designer nominations.

We've invited 31 designers over almost 3 years, some more entertaining than others. If you're wondering why some of your favorite designers haven't shown up, it may be because they didn't think they could spare the time. Others simply refused to respond. And one or two were simply crazy. (I may actually post a couple of conversations one day, just for the hell of it!)

Anyhoo, take a look at the archive and suggest away!

BGG Wargame Designer of the Month Subscription List

Thanks, H.

Ty Bomba would be my choice. I really appreciate his design sensibilities, even if they aren't everyone's cup of tea.

Jim Krohn for Band of Brothers: Screaming Eagles and soon Band of Brothers: Ghost Panzer

Mark Mokszycki for Red Winter: The Soviet Attack at Tolvajärvi, Finland – 8-12 December 1939 and soon Operation Dauntless: The Battles for Fontenay and Rauray, France, June 1944

Both are quite active, interesting and have new games coming out this summer.

I had a very pleasant conversation with Ty, but he wasn't able to participate.

I seem to remember many posters gave a ton of suggestions about a year ago.

It might be useful to have a list of those unavailable (polite way of saying "unable or unwilling") to participate at the present time ?

Ah, what a shame. In that case, I'd second Dan Verssen as your next choice. I'm a big fan of Dan's work, and own several of his games. He seems to have established a leadership position in the niche of designed-for-purpose solitaire wargames.

Can you go back and politely ask John Hill again?

And what about John Astell, Steve Jackson, or John Edwards?

Unfortunately John Hill is not interested. I had to get hold of him through a third party.

Tragic.

EDIT: I hope you left the door open should he ever have a change of heart in the future.

And thanks so much for doing this each month. Even if I personally am not interested in a particular designer, I appreciate the effort you put in getting these designers to share their time with us commoners.

I asked Uwe Eickert if he would contact him for this. No luck, but the door is always open!

Insane that a designer would not reply/participate. Given how small the market is, this seems like a no brainer PR/goodwill opportunity...
