For the past year I've been running game nights at my place. We're now looking for games that have a metagame, where part of the game is played in between sessions with planning/adaptation and we can use a loose league or campaign structure. Something we can play once a week over an arc of several weeks.

1. Metagame: Players can make changes every week in response to other players

2. Campaign or League structure: The game should be conducive to a competitive element, and/or evolve, or several weeks.

3. Fast: Need to be able to play a game in 3 hours, max. Preferably much, much shorter and so be able to play a "Best 2 out of 3" or "3 out of 5" match in 3 hours.

4. Cost: Relatively low barrier to entry. Most people are willing to spend $20-$40 upfront, and ~$5 per week after.

5. Flexible Time Investment: Players who don't want to invest a ton of time between sessions should still be reasonably competitive.

So far we've run BattleTech, Mordheim, and, most successfully, several months of a Magic the Gathering league. It seems that skirmish-level wargames, miniatures games, and CCGs that have good limited formats seem to be the way to go, but I'm certainly open to other options.

I have my eyes on:
- Summoner Wars
- Android: Netrunner
- Star Wars: X-Wing
- Dungeon Command
- Battlefleet Gothic

Any other suggestions?

Giving my own thread a bump here, I found Song of Blades and Heroes, a simple fast-play customizable skirmish-level wargame that seems pretty awesome. Any other tips would be great.
