Hi folks!

We're officially announcing the Netrunner OCTGN league!

Overview of the League

The main goal of the league is to meld the competive atmosphere of the tournament scene with relaxed deck restrictions and scheduling. This league event will run 2 months:

- Begins: May 1st, 2013
- Ends: June 30th, 2013
- Bring any decks that you like. You do no need to keep the same decks. However, you may only use cards that have officially been released by Fantasy Flight Games.
- Play against anybody on the ladder
- For this event, there is no restriction on whom you can play or how many times you can play them. Try to mix it up as much as you can.

This will be a learning event. Keep that in mind throughout the duration. Questions and comments are encouraged. We will make adjustments as necessary.

Match Structure

For this league, we're going to try using a match structure developed by Hollis. It helps address some widely regarded shortcomings with the traditional tournament scoring as well as lessening the time commitment needed for a given play session.

- A league match will consist of 1 game. (not 2 as you may be used to)
- The winner of the game wins the match. There will never be any ties.
- Corp / Runner is randomly determined for the first match.
- If consecutive matches are played, players swap sides between them. You may play as many as you like.
- Over the long term players should play each side roughly equally.

Signups

The league will be run on challengeboards.net which is an open source ELO challenge board that's being built to facilitate 1 on 1 group competitions.

Signups for the league and complete rules can be found here:
http://www.challengeboards.net/boards/details/4

Contributing

If you're willing to contribute to build a free product that anybody can use to run ladder style leagues, I could always use help!

Speciacally I'm in need of:

- Graphic wizards. Logos and iconagraphy would help immensly!
- HTML/CSS/JS wizards. Front end work.
- Cool ideas.

Oh, awesome. I am so in.

And it's cool that you're experimenting with the behaviour of alternative tournament scoring systems!

Badass, awesome, all that jazz Just a few things from me:

1) Any reason not using Challonge as previous tournament was ran in? I'm guessing because there's an ELO manager in this one?
2) League ideas? Tracking factional scores!! Like Faction Wars! http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/955453/league-idea-octgn-fac...
3) Should we have standard game names? Or at least a tag/marker to name games with to identify league games? Like...

[AL] Corp looking for Runner
[AL-C] Hello looking for a game (C indicating corp)
[AL-R] League game!! (R indicating runner)

Can you request that people use some special tag (e.g. [BGGLeagueA] or [BGG-L1] ) in their game lobby names? Not particularly required since you're going to be collating stats on your end anyway, but I wouldn't mind being able to draw a snapshot at any point from my own stats.

May I suggest that players have to load decks before anyone does his setup?

If I participate I don't want my opponents to counter pick my corp.

The irony: I pretty much finished the banner just when this got posted. Then ran into a snare (well, my graphics software crashed) and I had to redo quite a bit of it.

But if you like it, it´s here:

YEAH!!! I was all gung-ho and ready to go until Inermis came in and told me to read the fine print (starts May 1).

Why can't we start now?

(In other news, my boss sends his gratitude to Inermis.)

Being a big fan of fixed length tags, I believe that:

[BGG-L01] Will get you through the next 100 2 month periods, or 16 or so years, which should be plenty sufficient.

Anyone know of a site that 1) allows you to flip a coin and 2) allows your opponent to verify the result, if they really really want to?
