Well, not stop playing, but maybe cut the frequency by 75%. You know, make us appreciate when it's played instead of "Ugh, not Hotel California again".

So besides that I will also nominate Pink Floyd - The Wall. Great song, but I swear it comes on every other time I get in my car.

edit: Sorry, yes I botched the name. I was referring to Another Brick in the Wall pt 2

Here's my solution: Stop listening to classic rock radio stations. I loved them through high school, then pretty much realized that I was getting tired of every single song they played, switched the channel, and never regretted it.

Now I think I'll go listen to "The Wall" and "The Eagles Greatest Hits." I haven't anything from heard either of them in a few years, so they'll sound fresh and good!

No such song. I think you are referring to Another Brick in the Wall (Part II), which is frequently played along with Young Lust, Hey You, Comfortably Numb, and occasionally Run Like Hell from the album The Wall.

On a corollary topic, I one mused with a friend that one could load all of the content played on "classic" rock stations on a 4 or 8 GB iPod, thus cutting out the middle-man of listening to such a station. Though the goalposts of what fits within "classic" rock moves with each passing year, it seems that all stations I have heard adhere to a certain kernel of late 60s, heavily 70s, and some 80s and 90s rock. I never did get around to compiling a list of the songs one would need to load on such an iPod, but I think Chit Chat could probably accomplish this.

I've done some leg work.

And I've done a channel on Spotify with all the suggestions.

Could not agree more with Another Brick in the Wall Part II, especially when a far better song appears a track before it on the album (The Happiest Days of Our Lives).

At least the occasional classic rock station wises up and plays them back to back, since Happiest Days is basically a prologue.

My entry comes to mind because I heard it in the work cafeteria yesterday: "Bang a Gong" - seriously, who likes that shit?!

And with such a deep catalog of amazing songs, why does "Rainy Day Women ♯12 & 35" get so much airplay? (That was rhetorical.)

(I don't listen to classic radio these days, but I assume that all of those horrid 80's rock single - Huey Lewis, Tom Petty, Robert Palmer - still get plenty of play.)

That would be Iron Maiden not Quiet Riot. And therefore your argument is void, as Iron Maiden makes Stevie Ray Vaughn look like a state fair act...
