Foreigner's "Dirty White Boy" should be played at the top of the hour, every hour.

What you got?

Led Zep - When the Levee Breaks (out of all the Zeppelin classic rock stations do play, I never hear that one)

Rush - Red Barchetta. No one ever seems to step outside Tom Sawyer/Limelight/Closer to the Heart

Guess Who - No Sugar. Almost never hear Guess Who and if you do it's American Woman.

Traveling Wilburys - End of the Line. Not sure if 1988 is classic now, but I just love that song

Nothing earthshaking or obscure, I know, but I'd smile if any of those ever came on the radio.

Dude, are you stalking me? Or is it just coincidence that your first selection was what I've repeatedly called The Greatest Rock Song of All Time?

I don't know how much love Neil Young gets on the true AOR station (the ones that play more than just the biggest "hits"), but there ia a ton of great underplayed Neil Young that would sound great on the radio.

I would also add the missing Rumours track, Silver Springs....

Watching Stevie Nicks sing this to Lindsey in the live reunion concert will move you.

Stuff from the 'B' sides of LP's. Take the Rolling Stones. Their album, Beggar's Banquet, is one of their greatest- easily comparable with Exile on Main Street, Let it Bleed, Between the Buttons, or Some Girls. But the only song you EVER hear off of that album on the radio is "Sympathy for the Devil". Great song, true, but it means you're missing out on some really tremendous stuff on that album like the surreal "Jig-Saw-Puzzle", the melancholy "Factory Girl", the 'naughty Mick' of "Stray Cat Blues" and "Parachute Woman".

I'd like it if radio stations- of all genres of music- played less of the "Greatest Hits" and more of the odder works that you might not have heard of. Even my Classical station suffers from this- if I hear Vivaldi's Four Seasons or the final movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony (or worse, just a part of that), I'm going to SCREAM.

I make it a point of policy to NEVER buy 'Greatest Hits' compilations. I think that one should listen to an artists work as a whole, as the artist wanted it heard; at least until you're familiar with it. I don't think you can be a Beatle's fan if the only album you have is Sgt. Pepper's and the Archeology cd, or a Stone's fan if you only have their 'Grr!' Greatest Hits.

Come on Dar. I've got a stuffed bowl, a box of LP's and High Frontier. Let's party like it was 1985!

Going for something a bit more recent, I'm gonna nominate Oasis' "Rock 'n' Roll Star". A modern classic that gets my blood goin' every time. In my mind, my dreams are real.... "Shock of the Lightning" is another good one...

You need to move to Canada. Even the country music stations have to play Guess Who once an hour, or the government gets into a snit about someone not having enough "Canadian Content".
(perhaps a slight exageration, but only slight)

I am so sick to death of Joni Mitchell "pave paradise and put up a parking lot" that I listen to the same station as the teens do, for music.

I used to listen to classic rock stations. But I got sick of how they'd keep playing the same bad songs over and over, so I stopped. So, my answer to the question is ANYTHING ELSE.

They are all played by a Boston Classic Rock Station 100.7. Listen live at WZLX.com.
