I have a burning question and no idea where else to ask it.

Welcome to the Crazy Question #1 Answer correctly and get geek gold. British rap from the 80's edition!

Here goes:

When I was a kid in the 80's I would sometimes have the opportunity to visit record shops in London. On one such visit I purchased two tapes, Iron Maiden: Somewhere in Time and the mystery question answer.

Here are some additional clues: this was a rap tape. It was all done with a very British accents. I remember at least one male and one female rapper. The rappers sounded very happy to be rapping, the vocals had that cheesey old school timbre where everything sounded very... uhm.. excited and happy. Here's the kicker: Vamprires. Yup, "Vampire Rap" was definitely a name and main lyric of at least one song (and possibly two (Vampire Rap ____ remix?) Another might have been Frankenstein? But maybe not on that second one. I have to hear that song again. Don't judge. It would bring me joy. What? You can play a version of Waterworks where you're pretending to build a giant magical monster octopus that may or may not be an evil god and I can't want to listen to a rap about Vampires from the '80s?

So get crackin' super slueths. Where can I listen to this song online?I'll bank roll a Mircobadge to the person who answers this question by providing a link... If you can at least be the first person to name the artist and album I'll shoot you a few GG.

Good luck!

No it wasn't slick Rick. It was much more sing-songy like the Sugar Hill gang. A for effort though.

I've only knew 2 British rappers from the 80's. Slick Rick, and Young MC....They weren't common.

I think we're getting closer. Sounds a little too mature, a little too good musically. Make the music older, more cheesy and about Vampires.

No... but I do appreciate the warning label that the "record is to be played loud". I mean that's a proper instruction right there.

Now we're getting somewhere. This is stylistically correct. It may be one of the same artists. It's been decades since I heard the particular mystery album but it was definitely something like that Dizzy Heights cut.

Ha NO! "Vampire Rap" was not intentionally cheesy. It was an honest attempt at making a serious "rap" about vampires.

Duck Rock is more.... post punk.

Yes, this is the right style! I would not be surprised if this was the correct artist.

You can find Haunted House of Rock on You tube. Not British accents but produced in the UK by Thomas Dolby.

Could you be thinking of a compilation/various artists tape?

If that's it then you've encountered a very strange coincidence because I'd never have thought of them except that this:

just came out today.

Oh wow.. lots of material there to comb through. I wonder if I will find a clue. Thanks for the link. It's bedtime for me now but I'll go through it all soon.

I can't believe you lot. A bunch of Americans trying to identify British Rap and we invented it!

This is the one you're looking for (and no, I am not a troll).
