After much agonizing research and long consultations with my game group, I have narrowed down my next purchase to these two highly esteemed games.

Please do not suggest other games as I am very intrigued by the unique area majority mechanic present in both games.

well if you want my opinion between Flandern 1302 and el grande, then el grande by a natical mile. flandern is an ok game, but a little dry. Truefully, there is no contest.

I strongly prefer El Grande between those two.

While I'm not the biggest fan of either game, I like El Grande enough to hold onto it, whereas I Flanderen 1302 is on my trade/sell pile.

I own both. Flanders is an Ok game. El Grande is much better. It is a deeper game and you have more choices and actions to choose from. Plus you can play up to five, as opposed to four.
