Generally speaking, where to begin is a great game. Test the living daylights out of your product and make sure it is amazing before you invest in art.

As soon as you get a game that has recieved praise and accolades from more than those close to you (family, friends, neighbors) find a printing company that you want to use. Get quotes from them for how much it would cost to print your game. Also get die lines and print requirements from them to give to an artist (see next paragraph). Also research shipping and distribution options.

Next, assuming cash is low (hence kickstarter) invest in a good artist to do some sample pieces that would be used for the game before you go to Kickstarter. Kickstarter is not a guaranteed financing source, but if you don't have at least some art you are more likely to not get funded.

So without much more specific a question that is about all I can give you.

Good luck, self publishing is scary but can be very rewarding if done with wisdom and hard work.
