Hello,
i'm with a new obsession: the ancient mediterranean politics. After a time looking for Hannibal: Rome vs Carthago i'm tired and looking for a game to fulfill the void. Sword of Rome was the first to came to my mind but it has a problem: not good for 2 players.
Anyone knows a good game for 2 players set in the same "theme" than Hannibal?
Thanks a lot and forgive my errors writing in english.blush

A side note (maybe useful to you, maybe not): "Hannibal" exists (and is easier to find) in German, Italian and French (other than in English).
Have fun!

Look for Mediterranean, an old boardgame from the sixties, in flee markets. It was way ahead of its time, and seems to be just what you're looking for.

There's also a nice two player game on thi topic in Reiner knizia's "Rome" game box.

GMT has other games besides Sword of Rome that focus on the ancient Mediterranean. Check out Carthage - The Ancient World, Vol. II, which is for two players, if you're mostly interested in Rome v. Carthage. GMT also has a whole series on Caesar and another one on Alexander.

There are also some titles on GMT's P500 list that might interest you, like Caesar: Conquest of Gaul, Pax Romana, Deluxe SPQR, and History of the Roman Empire. Some of those might be for more than two players, though. (The P500 list is how GMT decides what to publish. The games are not available yet, but if you sign up and commit to buying a copy once they ARE printed, you'll help put them into print.)

Pax Romana has a great 2 player scenario for Carthage-Rome. I highly recommend the Ancient World series too. Every game I play of it is better.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
Now i'm looking italian and french ebays with a new keyword: annibale (italian for Hannibal). Maybe i'll be lucky.

About Mediterranean: seems hard to find or expensive (one in BGGMarket: 65$...) Rome, the Knizia pack, could be a good choice. Thinking about it.

The GMT games fit better my criteria about the game that i'm looking for. Pax Romana is THE game but i'm a bit afraid about the difficulty of this one. Any comments? Is like the GBOH series?

Maybe it can help...

Italian = Annibale: Roma contro Cartagine
French = Hannibal: Rome contre Carthage
German = Hannibal: Rom gegen Carthago

Good luck!
