Common Man Games
Thanks for joining us for a discussion about art and artists in games.
We here at Common Man Games would like to hear from you about...
"Who is your favorite Artist?"
(when it comes to board games)
As an example...
We are big fans of George Patsouras!!!
We are not alone, many love his art.
On the other hand, some do not.
The debate over his art in relation to the game Police Precinct, has come around to the question of...
"If not George, then who?"
When Common Man Games releases another game, who should the artist be?
George is a definite possibility, but we do not expect to use his art for all of our games.
We would love to hear ideas for other artists.
Part of this discussion should involve us mentioning that the theme of this upcoming game is expected to be "Cops and Robbers". We have loved doing Police Precinct and part of that fun has involved being in the theme of Law Enforcement / Crime. This is a place we would enjoy staying for a while. So don't be surprised if our next game is, once again, in this space.
Why even mention this?
Because some artists are amazing in fantasy, but not so comfortable in a theme that is closer to realism.
I want to give an example of another game that we really like the art in.
It's called Nations, and recently funded on Indiegogo.
Here is a link...
I mention this example to give you-all an idea of another artist we like besides George.
Over time we would love to see folks weigh-in here on this topic and eventually we may create a poll (possibly).
This topic is important to us, but our focus is so much on Police Precinct right now, it will likely not be for a good while before we publish another game, but...
It's great to get the conversation rolling!
Let's hear who you like!
Gotta' think on this one. there I are tons of artists I really enjoy like Xavier Durin but they do seem to work pretty much in fantasty.
Rio de Janeiro
If you mean boardgame artist, Michael Menzel wins by a long shot.
Common Man Games
He did a nice job on Andor.
