I've enjoyed playing Ticket to Ride on my iPad for a long time but it seems that other favorite board games that I have download just don't seem to have many (if any) on-line opponents available.

Other than Ticket to Ride, what other iOS games have a big on-line player base?

Carcassonne. Unless things have changed in the last few months...

I have never had to wait more than about 1 minute for an opponent.

This is a good question. Some apps use their own servers for online play and others use Game Center. While the overall experience is usually better when an app uses its own servers, Game Center does have a leaderboard feature which can give an indication of just how many people are engaging in online play overall (not, however, in a given moment).

I would very much like the "lobby" experience of all apps with online play to give me an idea of how much "action" there is currently going on whenever I log in. Unfortunately some developers might not like you to know just how little their games are actually being played online for fear of their app's online experience being seen as "dead".

There are usually 2-5 people in the Neuroshima Hex! game room. Enough to get a game going pretty quick. Wish there were more though 'cuz the game is outstanding
