I love groups like this. My most notable group I take part in is the Call of Cthulhu LCG tournament group I run. It's such a brain taxing game and I think if we weren't all cracking innapropriate, Lovecraft-inspired jokes throughout the several hours of play we'd probably all be as insane as the next cultist...

The group grows over time. The group meets in each others' homes outside of normal meeting times for bonus gaming.

last minute, everyone can't show up for the RPG you planned and instead of leaving they stay around for board games.

... people can't decide what to play, since for every game there is someone who hates the game; if a game doesn't click the first time, nobody is willing to give it a second chance; someone always pressures you to play quicker, while others have AP even in the simplest games; some always interpret rules in their favor, while others still don't have a clue about the rules after tons of plays; rules discussions take a significant time of each role playing session and talking about movies in each board game session; and yet everybody considers the regular game night as the highlight of the week.

People constantly getting up and wandering around the venue, talking to other people away from the table, ignoring the game you are playing, you keep having to call them back to take their turn. OH just wait that's probably the opposite of a good game group.

Well serves them right I stayed put and WON the game.

But was it much of a victory.

Warlord beats Troll, Troll beats Elf, Elf beats Water Sprite, and basically everything else beats Enchanted Bunny.

Some years ago a joined a new RPG group. The guy who opened the door looked at my Metallica shirt and grinned. I looked at his Mashinehead shirt and nodded. Be both knew that things would work out fine.

I had something similar, only it was with my Dimmu Borgir t-shirt, which started a conversation on our mutual appreciation for black metal.

The group has a very successful math trade once or twice a year. Also, folks are constantly buying, selling, trading, and/or borrowing games from each other.
