Card games, particularly those centuries old (e.g., Piquet, earliest recognized circa 1575), do not typically enjoy a precisely fixed and written set of rules prescribed by the original designer as would a modern table game. Descriptions of the rules may appear in literature of the period of the game's popularity or as published by aficionados of the game. Cavendish, nom de plume of Henry Jones, and others (Berkeley, Cotton, the United States Playing Card Co., Parlett, et al.), have prepared a treatise on or statement of the rules of the game of Piquet. Three books containing the rules are cited in the "More Information" section, each of which is available to you to download for free at Google Play. Several good websites containing the rules are listed in the "Web Links" section. Variations in the rules of play among these sources do not strike me as too significant but I am just a newbie.
