I had to go in to work today, and we knew that Otto would be at daycare all day, so yesterday we asked Biggie what she wanted to do.

B: "I want to go to Officeworks!"
Me and Fraser: "!!!???"
B: (confused) "That's wrong, isn't it."

Turns out she wanted to go to the Planetarium at SCIENCEworks.

Just when I thought I had finally convinced her that there is no greater pleasure than a stationery superstore with 1c exercise books.

They did go, and they had fun. And I went to Officeworks by myself to get my porn fix terribly necessary stationery.

so what if I now have 50 48-page exercise books? They only cost me a cent each. That's cheaper than scribble paper. And maybe I can use them as games journals or something.

I love going to office stores to look at the stuff. My dad likes it too. The day my son asks to go to an office store will be a happy day.

This reminds me of my niece. When she was little there was a grocery store called Big Wheel nearby. I mentioned that I needed to go to the Big Wheel and she clamored to come too. She was so excited, so I brought her along. Turns out, she thought we were going to an amusement park with a Ferris Wheel. She was very disappointed, I ended up buying her a toy, but I think she was always a little skeptical of her aunty after that.

about a year or so ago, my then-two-year-old daughter got upset about something. I don't remember what it was...maybe she didn't get her way or something. Anyway, I asked her what was wrong, and she said, "I'm f***erated."

After picking myself up off the floor, I asked for clarification, and yes, she meant "frustrated."

And walking through office (and home improvement) stores is great fun. "Hrmmm...how can I use the stuff in this aisle for gaming?"

I hope it's not wrong, because my wife and I are almost in a constant state of lauging our heads off at either the cat or our boy. The hardest part is to remember not to laugh we I'm supposed to be 'upset' at some misbehaviour or another. I'm sure soon enough he'll start misbehaving in ways that make it much easier not to laugh, but right now he's pretty funny at 2.5 years old.

Naw! It's great fun laughing at them, especially if they do something completely boneheaded...

I'll laugh, point, and call them an "idiot" if it's really stupifyingly bad.

I laugh when they poop themselves, pee themselves, spill something, fall down and hurt themselves...

...because if I didn't laugh I'd cry. Or they would.

And I don't call them idiots. That was sarcasm.

Why waste your time going to office supply depots, when you can sit in the comfort of your own home reading office supply catalogues? It's like being in an office suppliers, without actually being there! Look at the those pencils, if I buy 200, I can save £3.27! Wow! Paper! Notepads! Lined notepads! Ring-bound lined notepads! A-Z RINGBOUND LINED NOTEPADS!

I used to get Viking Direct's catalogue. Every item had a little tag line, highlighting some feature. My favourite was Pencil Sharpeners....keep your pencil sharp.

Good to see I'm not the only person with a stationery habit! or a catalogue habit. I actually complained when they stopped delivering junk mail to my house.

My other daughter Otto (2) loves the supermarket (to the point of bursting into sobs if we drive past without going in - she now knows which local streets lead to it and gets excited if I turn into one).

I'm keen to explore the uses of a laminator for gaming, but Fraser has threatened me with divorce if I ever bring one home. (See, those player mats in Pirates' Cove are just crying out for lamination).

Kids are just funny all the time.

I get my rocks off on fresh stationary. Don't know why. One of those things, I guess. And, yes, I occasionally browse OfficeMax, Staples, Office Depot, etc., look at all the stuff, dream of opening a small business just so I can find a use for colored index cards, lamination machines, and pre-perforated business cards.

My wife was just talking to my son, Damian (2).

Damian: Where's Daddy?
Wife: In his office.
D: He workin'?
W: Yes, he's working.
D: He sleepin'?
W: No, he's not sleeping.
D: He a tiger?
W: What?
D: ROOOOOAAAAR!

Two year olds crack me up.

Oh that's great.

And better than what my two year old did last night - she came to me, sobbing, with a bleeding cut on her finger.

"What happened, Otto?"
"Me was cutting"
"And?"
"Me cut my finger."
"Did you want to cut your finger?"
[Nods]
"Did you want to see if you could?"
[Nods]
"And it hurts, doesn't it."
[vehement nods]

Not a deep or serious cut, fortunately.

Our Little One (3) decided to run away from me when it was dark out... at my parent's house... She ran around the side of the house and into the stairwell going to the basement... It was about a 2 foot drop to the cement "floor"... I wanted to crack up laughing, but she was crying so hard, I just couldn't until I was sure she was OK... It's what she gets for running in the dark...
