Sorry if this is a stupid question, but do all units move first and then battle, or do you move one unit, battle then move another unit and battle?

But something key to remember is that the battles happen one at a time, between one unit and another unit.
.
So if you have 2 or 3 units capable of attacking one defender, you will PICK one of them to roll first. If the defender is still there (hasn't been killed or retreated) he can battle back against THAT attacker.
Then your 2nd attacker goes in-- same deal, if the defender is still in the hex, he gets to battle back.

(You can see that allowing battle-back advances would be a bad thing.)

So you'll want to keep your mind straight on the order in which you attack, lest the defender retreat and you end up with activated blocks with nothing to swing at.

And "withdrawal" can be a good thing to remember.
