Is it really a First Edition game (the 1987 blue box) that you're running, or is it the 1997 one? (it's sold out, but I'm curious to know).

Yeah, that's actually the second ("good" ) edition.

Now I wish I had a ticket.

Glad to hear this is still getting plays. I wrote the Die Macher strategy article which is on here somewhere. It made its US debut at a games con in Baltimore around '88/89 when I brought it over from Europe. It got some astonished looks.

This event is sold out, according to the Gencon Events page. That's great news - glad to see a hefty classic getting some love in an era of rampant fascination with the latest thing.

Die Macher is a meaty area control game, but the basic mechanics are easy to learn and you can begin contesting elections pretty quick - I'm hoping we'll see some beginners excited to have a crack at this, but if you're a veteran that's great too!

I do have one announcement; I've been asked to participate in a seminar right before this event, so I hope I won't be running through the hallways to get there. Don't worry if I'm a couple minutes late - it's easy to set up and play and we'll have plenty of time.

Oh yes... we will not be using the play variant that matches party platform to historical situations. Player colors will be just that; colors.
