Twilight Struggle is a really fun, game, but I've always found that the best/most thematic victories are getting a few victory points off a event card/series of card plays to win the game rather than winning off of a scoring card. So post any of your favorites here.

As USSR I had one game on mid turn 3, where I victoriously forced the Americans to Duck and Cover before the might of Sputnik. Or, I got 2 vps from succeeding a space race roll off of a duck and cover to get 20 vps and win the game.

On Turn 10 as US with 19 vp going into the turn I headlined Tear down this wall to over control East Germany by three and then make 3 realignment rolls at +1 (France and E Germany were owned by US) on West Germany which was 13 influence to 6 in favor of the Russians. After 3 rolls its was 6 vs 6 in terms of influence and then 6 (USSR) vs 4 (US) after USSR player resolved their headline of Socialist Governments. On AR1 USSR tried to coup Brazil, but only succeeded in removing 1 influence so it was 3 US vs 1 USSR. South America was tied 2v2 in battlegrounds and USSR player had the SA scoring card, along with the Europe Scoring card.

I ended the Evil Empire on US AR1 by playing "an Evil Empire" for the last victory point needed to win.

I did a few searches and didn't see a topic like this, but sorry if its there.

It happened a while back, and it's buried in one of the threads here, but here's my Favorite:

I headlined Cuban Missile Crisis (No Coups For You!!).

I followed with How I Learned to Stop Worrying (DefCon back to 5 and 5 MilOps for me, but still no opponent coups).

Lastly, I capped it off with Arms Race. Oh, you don't have the required MilOps - 3 VP for me - for the Win!!

Despite your hope, there is not even any inherent symbolism; gravity is simply a coincidence.

Sorry to rain on that, but HILtSW only counts as milops for the end of turn. It doesn't count for Arms Race ...

Wow, that is a fine distinction I hadn't caught before. I've just paired up the 'required military operations' phrases til now.

Is that in a FAQ somewhere? I see the distinction, but can also envision a lawyerly discussion if/when I enforce it.
