The game uses different type of bombers. For example in scenario 6 a Ju-87B dive bomber (DB) and a Bf-110c fire bomber are used.

The rules for bombing can be found on pages 17 to 21 of the rulebook. Most of these rules are in red. As stated at page 7 of the rulebook "rules that are not used in this game are highlighted in red". Thus, the bombing section is reduced to Level Bombing and Gunfire only as all other rules are highlighted in red. Turning back to scenario 6, the Ju-87B is a dive bomber and thus there do not seem to be any rules for this type of bombers as dive bombers are also not mentioned in the section for "Level Bombing".

However, the rules include dive bombing rules highlighted in red. Thus, can and should these rules be used or not when dealing with different bomber types? I would be interested to hear how other people handle this issue or whether I overlooked some important information.

Hi Maik,

Black Cross is intended as an introductory game to the Blue Sky Series. Yes, the Ju-87B is a dive bomber but players new to the game should treat it like a level bomber. Once a player is familiar with the rules, then the dive bombing rules can be used. But be aware that the dive bombing mechanic is complex, but more realistic. You will need to use the "attitude" dial on the base of the bomber to remind you that it is diving.

Lastly, all "red" rules can be used in Black Cross. As a matter of fact they MUST be used when adding the "Lost Squadrons" supplement to the game!

Thanx for your interest and Good Flying!!
