I don't have a clever caption, but I'd be curious if anybody knows what it actually is?

I can well imagine each of the ear tubes being connected to a large parabolic dish at the opposite ends of a crossbar, and the wheel being used to "aim" the whole thing. So you'd have in effect two very large "ears" and the operator would still get the benefit of stereo listening for direction finding.

This is part of the "Ringtrichterrichtungshörer", a listening device where two people tried to pinpoint an enemy aircraft in azimuth and elevation. See Wikipedia

Edit: Two or more devices could be used to get a coordinate tripel of the aircraft. Used by the heavy AAA

"Ringtrichterrichtungshörer" is such a cool name!!blush
