!! IN PROGRESS !!

This game is in progress, any help is appreciate to make this play by forum accessible to everyone and most of all enjoyable.
I would also appreciate any help in rewording anything I write as I am terrible at it.

-- GENERAL PREMISE --

This Play By Forum is inspired by Kingdom Death: Monster but NOT follows its rules.

The reason behind this approach is that, first of all, not all the rules in the game have been explained, refined or completed as the game is in production and not released to the public yet.

The second reason is that the game is based on miniature, cards and dice rolls and reproduce some of these element could be overly complicated, ambiguous, or simply slowing the pace of the game.

At last I would like to apply a golden rule to the gameplay: anything in the game has to be clear, simple and to resolved quickly.

Play By Forum can turn to be extremely slow paced and tedious. Let's make this game lean and quick. There is no reason to make a fight to be last a month.

-- GAMEPLAY --

BEGINNING
After giving your character a name and a gender, you will have the chance to start in an already found settlement as long that settlement will have population slots. Alternatively you will have to open an EXPLORATION thread.
Others like you can start in the same EXPLORATION thread.
In this case your characters will have no language skills, no knowledge of anything and no equipment but a sharp stone and some rudimental clothing.
You are allowed to role-play and introduce yourself, but be simple and concise.

FIRST EXPLORATION
When everyone is ready one have to roll 1d10.
A 1 on the dice will be a monster encounter, a 10 a new settlement while any other number will be an already existing settlement[to be refined].
If there are no existing settlement you can create a new settlement.

SETTLEMENT
Each settlement is unique, have unique people, culture, story and technology.

HUNT/EXPLORATION
During an hunt or exploration players can stumble on point of interest, monsters, settlements, special events and new players.

If either the monster or the character try to leave it will suffer an opportunity attack.

INITIATIVE
At the beginning of the encounter everyone rolls 1d10 for initiative.
The turn will be from the highest to the lowest.

ATTACKING
Attacking is determined by skill points + 1d10. If the number will be equal or higher then the opponent armour then is considered hit. The damage will be equal to the weapon damage points.

Melee attacks will set player and monster as ENGAGED, trying to getting out of range will provoke an opportunity attack. This does not apply to range attacks.

MONSTER TURN
If not ENGAGED the monster will attack any of the characters using a custom roll [write in the field: 1custom3{Tom;Dick;Harry} ] and 1d10.
The monster will attack with a basic (B) skill unless it rolls a 10 on the d10, in that case it will be a special attack (S).
Some player behaviour can trigger monster reactions (R) that will be used on the monster turn.

SURVIVAL POINTS
Every time a character survive an encounter with a monster will gain 1 SURVIVAL POINT.
These points can be used to do a special action such a successful attack, or a successful dodge during fights.

I'll grant you this is really late, but this should all be in one thread under the "Variants" subgroup.
